I meet you on your arrival in Wadi Rum village. From there we travel by jeep through the village and out into the spectacular Wadi Rum desert.
We visit Lawrence Spring where you can follow the pipeline up the hill to see the spring and wonder at the magnificent view. When you return from your walk there is a hospitality cup of tea ready for you. We continue on to Khazali Canyon where you will see ancient inscriptions on the cool shaded walls. Next stop is the red sand dunes which have formed on one side of a small mountain. You can walk up to the top of the dune, and at the top of the small mountain there is a great 360-degree panoramic view. If you want to try sand boarding, we provide a board at no extra charge.
The Little Arch is our next stop. It is the first of two rock bridges we visit on this tour. Into the white desert and we arrive at Um Frouth rock bridge where there is a short scramble to the top where you can stand on the arch, 15 metres above the desert floor. We next visit Chicken Rock, and the soft sand dune. We will arrive at our camp in the late afternoon, and you can check in to your sleeping tent, and explore our camp area. And relax in the big dining tent with a cup of tea. Depending on what time of year you visit, you will have time to climb the rocks behind our camp for wide landscape views, or walk a short way over the soft sands and just stand in the total silence of the desert. There are many viewing places for you to watch the sun set over the red and white sands and distant mountains.
Dinner is served buffet style in the big tent, it includes freshly prepared vegetables, with chicken and bread or rice, cooked in a traditional Bedouin way. On some evenings we will cook the food underground, a traditional Bedouin barbecue, or zarb. When it gets dark we sit by the warmth of a fire and share stories and songs. Later we turn off the lights and you can lie back and gaze at the stars in the wide expanse of sky.
When you are tired there is a comfortable bed waiting for you in your sleeping tent. Breakfast is served at 7.30am in the dining tent. About 8.20am we set out on a morning hike across the desert. We have several interesting hikes from our camp and we usually decide on the day which one to take. After your hike we will travel to the start place for your camel ride. The camel guide will accompany you, walking alongside. The camel ride is provided in an open area where you have great views of the towering Jebel Rum, Um Ishrin, and Jebel Khazali - three of the major mountains within the Wadi Rum Protected Area.
After your camel ride we return to Wadi Rum village by jeep, arriving there by 12.30pm. Here we say good-bye. More details about our camp here. Prices for the Wadi Rum jeep tour, Overnight stay, Desert hike and Camel ride
