Travelling time: 30 minutes Take the turn off to Wadi Rum From the main desert highway Route 15, follow the signs and turn off to Wadi Rum. After travelling 16 minutes you will come to a small check point where you take the road on the right to Rum. (Checkpoint and other road not marked on map.) Distance from main highway to check point: 17.2 kms Travelling time: 16 mins Next stop - Wadi Rum Visitor Centre Another 5 minutes drive from the check point you will arrive at the Wadi Rum Visitor Centre. Distance from main highway to Visitor Centre: 21.5 km Travelling time: 21 mins Whether travelling by bus, or taxi, or car, stop and go to the tourist reception office at the Visitor Centre to pay the government fee of 5JD per person to enter the Wadi Rum Protected Area, or show your Jordan Pass and get it stamped. It is 7 kms further along the road from the Visitor Centre. Distance from main highway to Rum village: 29 kms Travelling time: 30 minutes - Arriving in the village by bus. The bus will stop at the Wadi Rum Rest House and I will meet you there. - Arriving in the village by taxi. Ask the driver to stop at the Wadi Rum Rest House. - Arriving in the village by car. Free car parking is available at the tourist car park in Wadi Rum village. As you approach the village you will see the tourist car park on your right hand side beside the Wadi Rum Rest House. from Queen Alia International Airport Amman to Wadi Rum - by car or taxi By car from the airport travel west 2kms to the Airport Interchange then travel south on the Desert Highway Route 15 for about 3 hours until you reach the turnoff to Wadi Rum. Turn left and follow the signs to Wadi Rum Visitor Centre. GPS co-ordinates for Wadi Rum Visitor Centre are 29.639724, 35.433953. Stop here to pay the entry fee, and then travel another 5kms to Wadi Rum village. There are taxis at the airport entrance. Travel time: 3.25 hours Cost: approx 90 JD by taxi Distance: 293 kms - by bus There are no direct buses from the airport to Wadi Rum. At the airport entrance there are shuttle buses for 3.50 JD which leave every 30 minutes to take you north to Amman. Or take a taxi which will cost about 25JD to Amman. The fastest way by bus to Wadi Rum is to take a JETT bus from Amman to Aqaba. The JETT bus does not pick up passengers from the airport. See below for locations of bus stations in Amman. The minibus will collect you from your hotel at 6.20am. Ask your hotel to call the bus driver to book a seat for you because the bus can fill easily in the main tourist season.
