2 days Hiking in Khashkhash area of Wadi Rum desert and 2 nights (1 in the open air and 1 in a tent at our camp)
Day1: Your guide will meet you at the Wadi Rum Rest House in Wadi Rum village and from there we will start your hiking tour. From the village we will hike to Lawrence Spring, where you can scramble up the side of the mountain for a great view across the desert, and a hospitality cup of tea waiting for you when you descend. From there we hike across to the red sand dunes, and then to Khazali Canyon, where we will eat lunch and rest a while. In the afternoon we hike to the small rock arch, and then to Abu Khashkhasha valley. We end the day's hike at a great site for viewing the sunset over the mountains and desert sands. We cook dinner over a fire, enjoy conversation and songs, and you will have the opportunity to view the spectacular star-filled desert night sky, a never-to-be-forgotten experience. You can relax on comfortable mattresses and warm blankets and look up at the stars as you drift off to sleep. Day 2: After breakfast we set off at 8.00am, hiking from the red desert into the white desert. We hike across to Um Frouth Rock Bridge, a favourite spot with our visitors. Here you can scramble to the top in a few minutes and walk across the bridge, 15 metres above the desert floor. We will have our lunch near here and rest a while. In the afternoon we will hike across to Jebel Um Mugur, and visit places there. At the end of the day we travel by jeep to our desert camp. From here you will see the sunset over both the Red and White Deserts. You can take the short walk up the mountain behind our camp, enjoy a cup of tea, relax over dinner in our dining tent, sit and talk around the fire, and gaze at the magnificent star-filled night sky. When you are tired you go to sleep on bed and mattress in a comfortable tent. Day 3: After breakfast we will return by jeep to Wadi Rum village by 8.30am, and the tour ends. There are about 7 hours of hiking each day, about half in the morning and half in the afternoon, with rests at each desert attraction we visit. A guide will accompany you on the hike, and another guide will go ahead by jeep with everything we need to set up camp, he will prepare the fire, and cook dinner for us. This is a back-to-basics tour with no bathroom facilities available (but plenty of sand and privacy) until we reach our permanent camp at the end of Day 2. There is no booking fee, and we do not ask you to pay a deposit when you book with us. Full payment for your tour is payable in cash in JD (Jordanian dinar) at the end of your tour. For children 2 -12 years old, a 50% discount on tour price listed for 2 adults. |
