We meet you on arrival at the tourist car park in Wadi Rum village and welcome you to Wadi Rum. We travel directly to our camp in the desert by jeep. As we leave the village you will see Jebel Rum on your right and Um Ishreen on your left. Then we drive over the large open area, made famous by the 1962 film, Lawrence of Arabia. Next we pass Jebel Khazali on your left and the craggy peaks of Jebel Qataar on your right. We continue south to the Um Sabatah area, arriving at our camp about 25 minutes after leaving the village. This is a tour in itself. Arrival and Sunset - We show you to your sleeping tent and prepare a cup of tea for you in our dining tent. You are welcome to explore the camp area and experience the total silence of the desert. You can view the sunset from our dining tent, or climb the small mountain behind our camp, in fact, there are views of the sun setting over the distant mountains from everywhere at our camp. Summer and winter. Dinner - After sunset we serve dinner, buffet-style in the dining tent. It is freshly-prepared Bedouin food, and on some evenings we cook zarb, a traditional underground Bedouin barbecue. Evening - As it gets dark we bring out mattresses and cushions and sit by the warmth of a fire and share stories and songs. We turn off all the lights and you can lie back and gaze at the stars in the wide expanse of sky over the camp. When you are tired there is a comfortable bed waiting for you in your sleeping tent. Breakfast - served at 7.30am. It is a spread of Jordanian dishes including hummus, eggs, labeneh, zattar, olives, cooked vegetables, cucumber and tomato, fruit, bread, jams, and tea and coffee. About 8.30am or 9.00am we set off on your full day tour of Wadi Rum. Tour itinerary - (see map above) In the morning we visit Chicken Rock, followed by the soft sand dunes. Then we travel into the white desert and visit Um Frouth Rock Bridge. You will have plenty of time to climb the 15m to the top of this rock bridge and take photos. Next stop is the start of the Mountain Canyon hike. But just by the entrance is a great slope for sand boarding so you can have some fun on the sand slopes first. (We provide a sandboard at no charge.) The canyon hike is a gentle walk in the shade of mountain walls and vegetation, with a short scramble down some rocks half way through. While you are hiking through the canyon your tour guide will drive around to the other side of the mountain and meet you at the end of your walk. Next we drive to Burdah Rock Bridge, viewing it from the valley floor, towering 300m above us. We find a cool place nearby in the shelter of the mountain and cook lunch over a fire. Then a cup of Bedouin tea and a short rest before continuing our tour. First stop after lunch is Mushroom Rock, another good place for photos. Lawrence House is visited next, then Liittle Rock Arch, Khazali Canyon, the red sand dunes, and Lawrence Spring. We arrive at the village car park while it is still daylight, for your onward travel. (We do not return to our camp so you will have your luggage already in the jeep with you.) You will find descriptions of many of these sites on our Wadi Rum Desert Attractions page. At many of these sites there is a short climb or scramble for a good view and photo opportunity. More details about our camp here. Prices for our Overnight and Full day jeep tour
